With 855m of vertical and 60km of pistes, Roccaraso is one of the largest Italian resorts outside the Alps and offers a vast network of cross-country routes too. Roccaraso hosts large FIS events.

When the USS Kennedy pulled into Napoli in 1984, my squadron buddies and I somehow discovered the most unique and wonderful ski spot in the world! It was absolutely beautiful, a close drive from Naples, and gave us a quick immersion into true Italian life. As the only Americans there, watching the Italians gesticulating, loudly conversing, and enjoying each other’s company, as we all barreled down the slopes, was like being in a Fellini film. If I ever return to Naples or Sorrento, I will stay again in this picturesque town.
