Evolene (or Evolène) in Switzerland (in the Valais region) is a medium sized ski resort with 8 ski lifts (1 chair lift, 7 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1510 metres (4953 feet) of vertical descent. Evolene (or Evolène) has 42 kilometers (26 miles) of pistes. Evolene is best suited to advanced skiers and snowboarders. There are 20 kilometers (12 miles) of cross country ski trails at Evolène. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park. The nearest airport is at Geneva/Sion and the nearest train station to Evolene is at Sion.

Small pearl, free-riding paradise, uncrowded. Not too many slopes but quite demanding. Evolene is a small resort in a valley next to Thyon (4 Vallées). While Verbier is absolutely crowded, Arolla and Evolene (specially the first one) are peaceful and untouched. Great heli-skiing in the area and real people in the village; a true skiing experience. The Hermitage hotel offers lodging at a good price and there are typical restaurants like the Taverne Evolenarde or Le Vieux and Mazot, among others, that serve real food.
