Established in 1947, Coronet Peak is New Zealand’s first commercial ski field and Queenstown’s local. Just 20 minutes from town, it delivers epic terrain, fast laps and unforgettable views. With a summit of 1,649 metres, a 462-metre vertical drop and the Southern Hemisphere’s largest snowmaking system, performance is always on tap. Carve First Tracks at sunrise, send it under the lights at Night Ski, or chase speed in our world-class race arena. Lessons and rentals? Sorted for first timers starting out to experienced shredders. Après? Heidi’s Hut is where the locals go or park up on the deck and enjoy the mountain vibe. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, the magic starts here, and it never stops.

Coronet Peak is opening two weeks earlier. The ski field, which is 20 minutes from downtown Queenstown, will be open for one day only on Saturday June 2nd on Queen’s birthday weekend. It's official opening day is Saturday June 16th. The four-seater Coronet Express and Meadows Express chairlifts will be spinning, offering a variety of terrain for confident beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers and riders.
The Remarkables will not open on Queen’s Birthday Weekend, but pass holders that ride The Remarkables also have access to Coronet Peak, so no one need be disappointed. The Remarkables is due to open on Saturday June 9.

A great resort for beginners, intermediates and experts. It would be even better if the T-bar was replaced with a chair lift to spread people out on the mountain! The only other down side is the steps up to the snow from the base building. It is difficult for children to carry skis up and down stairs.
